Body Shop and Marvel Funko Pop Advent Calendars

Advent calendars are one of the best things about the build up to Christmas. I'm not a massive fan of chocolate - controversial I know. But I love the surprise of opening those calendar doors every day. This year I have the Marvel Funko Pop calendar and the Body Shop calendar. The Funko Pop calendar contains 24 doors and the Body Shop has 25 days to open. I obviously haven't opened them all yet but I am already really enjoying it and I thought it would be a good idea to share my advent this year as there's so many options lately that are not just chocolate!

I am a huge fan of Marvel and the majority of Funko Pops that I already have are my favourite Marvel characters. If anyone has never seen Funko Pops before they are basically a collectable figure of a character from a movie or TV show etc. These ones are little mini versions of the ones you can usually get. In each door its a random character from any of the Marvel movies - and the great thing about this calendar is that it doesn't tell you on the back what's in it (as some usually do) so it's all a surprise and I don't know any in any door! I got my favourite character from the franchise in the first door even! I've seen some other versions of this like Harry Potter too so it's a great idea!

The next calendar that I have is the body shop calendar. Every year the body shop releases three advent calendars of varying sizes - this one is the deluxe calendar which is the medium size one. The best thing about the Body Shop calendars is that they give a mixture of mini products and full size products. It's also a mixture of products; make up products, shower products, skincare. It's exciting everyday because you don't know what you'll get. Each day is its own box and it varies in size. Each box has an interesting fact on the side too which is nice and empowering to learn before starting your day. The best thing about everything in this calendar is something that I will use especially to treat myself on the dark winter days and nights.

February Favourites | 2018

I love the alliteration of the title of this post. I have not done a favourites video in a long time, usually because I'm that person who uses the same products all the time. Yet, over Christmas I've gathered a lot of new products to try out so I thought I'd share the things that I've been loving for the past while. 

I'm going to start with beauty favourites, so during Christmas I had the NYX lipstick calendar, which contained 24 NYX mini lipsticks, which I love, there's only about two or three that I would never wear. I decided to pick my three favourites from them to share with you. The first one is a butter lipstick in the shade Root Beer Float, which is a purple toned pink, but it's a dark nude colour when  on the lips. This is like a regular lipstick with a soft finish. The next lipstick is the NYX lip lingerie in the shade Exotic, which I have had a full version before and loved, this is a dark pink/red liquid lipstick, and these are my favourite liquid lipsticks I own. And the last NYX lipstick is the soft matte lip cream in the shade Copenhagen, which is a deep purple red, matte lip colour. I love that they are all minis too, so easy for travel.

The next beauty products are from Tanya Burr, I'm not too sure if they're only from her Christmas range or not. The first is a lip gloss in the shade Cranberry Melt, I'm not massively into lip glosses, but recently I've been into more subtle shades, of which this is although it looks a deep red colour. Also her nail varnish in the shade festive red, which I think the two are a good combination.

The next few things are perfume and scent related. The first one is from Zoella's Christmas range, it's a body mist aptly called Snow'ella. This body mist is very calming and smells fresh, floral and minty. I like it because it's a little subtle. The other perfume I've chosen for my favourites is Lady Million, this is the female branded version of One Million, which I love. I'm very bad at describing scents but you can click on the link if you're interested in a proper description. It's always one of my favourites and a staple scent.

   

On to other non-beauty related favourites over the past month. If I did a favourites in January my top favourite would be the Greatest Showman film and soundtrack. If you haven't seen or listened to anything from this yet, what are you doing with your life? I know there's a handful of people that dislike it, but they're wrong. The only thing I disliked was a few of the plot structure and flow, but overall, the experience, atmosphere and the production of the film was amazing. Also I absolutely love all the cast, Hugh Jackman being my favourite. The composers and lyricists who made La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen created the music for this film so you'll know straight away it's amazing. Another favourite is watching films and TV shows from DisneyLife rather than Netflix recently. If you don't know what DisneyLife is, it's a Netflix purely for Disney productions, and who doesn't love a good Disney film? It's also safe to say over the past few months that I've more than likely watched them all.

My last favourites are the Malteasers mini Teasers, which I didn't have any left for the photos, ooops. These are small versions of the Teasers bar, I think they originally come from the Christmas celebration tins. You could get these in little chocolate boxes for Valentines for which I happily received, and they are amazing and so cute.

Zoella Treasure Me Gift Collection | What's Inside

Around Christmas, I know it's still so early, I love getting big bath sets of a range of different products and I also love giving them. If you don't already know for the past year or so Zoella releases a Christmas range with really cute gift sets. I didn't actually get one last year, I had enough stuff without it. I thought it would be a good idea to show what's inside the Zoella Treasure Me gift box to give an idea if anyone else would like to buy it themselves or for someone else. i find with stuff like this sometimes it's hard to tell if you're getting your money/value worth or not. 

The gift comes in a rather hefty and large box, with very pretty rose gold detailing and includes eight products. It's currently on sale in Superdrug so you can get it for even better value. For the sheer amount that you get I don't think it's bad value compared to some of the other sets, but you definetly need to have a lot of baths to get use out of it all.

When opened all the products come individually wrapped and it does seem disappointing seeing how much bigger the box is compared to everything inside, although the box can be reused, which I will be doing so it's not all a waste. 

The first product you get is the Snow Fresh body wash, the scent is really floral and fresh with a hint of mint, and I think all the products have a similar scent. It's quite misty and shiny and it's a little bit sticky but I think it will leave a nice shine on your skin, you can't really go wrong with that. 

The next product is the Winter Wonder hand cream, I don't really use hand cream but I know a lot of people do. This packaging is possibly my favourite, the shape of the bottle and the rose gold colouring just look really pretty. The texture is really watery which I don't like and your hands feel wet even after a few minutes, but I do love the smell it leaves behind.

The Splash of Milk bath powder is something that I think is really interesting. You get two sachets in the box and you pour one into your bath which then turns your bath milky and it's meant to me moisturizing and soft, kind of like a Lush bath oil.

You then get a Snow Silky body lotion, I've previously tried Zoella body lotions and I do like them, but I think they take a long time to soak in completely, and the scent is never as strong as I would like it to be. 

You also get a Snow Polished body polish, and I'm not too sure how different the two products are. I think they're both similar in use but with the body polish its like an in shower body lotion, you rub it into your skin with water and watch it lather, which is something I prefer than a regular lotion. 

The next thing is the Snow Smooth body butter. I don't really like this body butter as it feels quite plastic-y and hasn't got much of a scent, it's probably my least favourite product from the bunch. 

You also get one of those loofahs, I'm not really sure what to call them and I didn't really understand their use until recently and I really love them now. This one is white with baby pink around the edges which is cute. 

The last product you get is the Snow Scoop bubble bath. This is one of my favourite things, I love a good bubble bath. The tub is also very cute, you scoop some of the product out with your hand and swish it under running water to produce bubbles, I think it's really cute.

Overall I think this is the best Zoella gift set you can buy. You get a lot of products for your money and it would be much more expensive to buy them all separately. Although there is a few products that I wouldn't use out of it I do like the majority and it makes a really good present.

Current Favourites | August 2017

I haven't got that many things in the line of favourites this month mainly because I lost my bank card and spent most of the month without access to money, which was super annoying but there are a few little bits I've picked up throughout the month that I'd like to share!

The first thing I picked up was the Body Fantasies Signature in Pink Grapefruit Fantasy from Superdrug and I didn't need a new body spray but I sprayed it in the shop and I knew I needed it. It smells like it should be a Victoria Secret scent except it doesn't last as long. Obviously it smells like pin grapefruit and although I'm not a fan of the fruit I love the smell. It's very summery and fruity and very good for the price.

The next things I got are from Disneyland Paris, they're two collectible pins. I'd never bought any Disney pins before but I decided that I'm going to start collecting them every time I go to Disney, so I picked up two to start my collection. The first one I got is the 25th Anniversary pin as I thought it was cute and it's a good commemoration of me being there then, plus I won't ever be able to get it again so. The second one I bought is the Thumper one, where he's holding a flower in his mouth, I love rabbits so Thumper has always been a favorite of mine, I just think he's so cute. The last two pieces I got from Kiko which I always get stuff while away as we don't have any in Ireland. I didn't need anything in particular though so I just picked up two small items, I got the Smart Colour Eyeshadow 09 Metallic Moonstone in a light grey colour. Although I wouldn't normally wear grey I got this one because it swatches more silvery and light than it looks and I think it would look nice in the corners of your eyes to finish off a look, as I haven't any other colours like it.
The second thing I bought I bought because of how cute the packaging was as opposed to the colour, not great I know. I got the Mini Divas in 01 Practical Rose which is a really pale light pink which probably doesn't suit my skin tone the best but it's such a tiny lipstick and the packaging is so cute I thought I'd just get it anyway. You get a good bit of lipstick for the size and it's so easy to bring around with you.

Another thing I've been loving recently is the Addams Family musical. I got to go see the UK tour live twice in the past few weeks and I am obsessed with it. It's one of the funniest musicals I've ever gone to see and the cast and production are amazing, definitely try to get tickets to this tour while you still can. The soundtrack is very hard to find to listen to as there isn't many recordings of it anywhere, although I'm hoping they do a cast recording and put in on Spotify as soon as possible. Collection Pieces | Review

It seems like you always run out of all your products at once and I ran out of all my face products at once so I needed to update my makeup promptly. If you've read my blog before you might know that I'm a really big fan of Collection's lasting perfection skincare. I have done a review of the foundation before in previous favourites posts and I've been using it for quite sometime now. I decided to get all the face products I needed from the same collection to see how well they fit together, and let me tell you, they're wonderful. 

Firstly, I got the Lasting Perfection foundation, which I have had before and loved. I buy a shade darker then I am, in which I bought Ivory 2, the foundation itself is a little bit thick and heavy so it's not for people who like light coverage. I really like the way it covers any imperfections on my skin and it doesn't take a lot of product to cover your face so it lasts quite a long time. It lasts all day and doesn't fade even in the sun and heat it stays on without any top up, it's my favourite foundation at the moment. I'm open to suggestions though as I do want to try some new ones!

The next product is from the same collection, the Lasting Perfection concealer, which every Youtuber and Blogger raves about, which I will rave about in this post also. I got the concealer a shade lighter then the foundation so it brightens up my skin. It has a very nice consistency and definitely covers any imperfections and brightens the area. It matches the foundation perfectly and they blend together like a dream.

The last product I got isn't the Lasting Perfection powder, but the Primed and Ready Setting Powder. I got this one because it contains witch hazel which is really good for your skin and reduces breakouts. I find that this powder doesn't do much for your skin, you can't really notice it, but I think that it's somewhat of a good thing. Especially as it contains products good for your skin. I usually don't buy invisible powders but I think that this one still does the job well and is light and fresh on the skin.

These are always products that I'll repurchase when looking for cheap and good face products, has anyone tried them before? What do you think?

Kiko Bits and Pieces

 I've never tried any Kiko products as they've none in Ireland (that I've found before anyway), so I picked up a few bits in the London store to try them out, as I've heard that they're quite good and affordable. I needed these eye shadow shades and a contour kit so that's what I picked up.

The two eye shadows that I picked up were from the Smart Colour Eyeshadows, the pink shade in number 15 Pearly Azalea and the yellow number 25 Pearly Yellow. I got these two shades as they are colours that I didn't have before and wanted. Pearly Azalea is a bright and vibrant pink which is soft and pigmented and really brightening and gentle on the eyes. I find it goes really nice on the crease of your eye with brown shades, and it even goes with the yellow quite well, my two favourite colours. The shade Pearly Yellow is a pale and pretty yellow and it looks really nice on the inner corners of your eyes, yet the shade itself is not very pigmented and takes a few layers and a lot of product to show on your eyes. 

The contour palette is the Smart Contour Palette, the bronzer side comes out very dark and well on the skin and leaves a really matte and soft finish, yet it's easily blend-able. I think I may have gotten a shade too dark for me but I like to buffer it out and bronze my whole face too so it's not so bad. The highlight part is disappointing and doesn't have great highlighting qualities, unless you like a subtle highlight. For me, highlight always has to be a little dramatic and shimmery and this just doesn't do the job, it's nice for a natural look, but just not the type for me, it's too gentle.

The swatches are eyeshadow 15 Pearly Azalea, 25 Pearly Yellow, Smart contouring palette contour and highlight.

Overall, I really like the products and would definitely try some more, especially some more single eyeshadows which are really good value.

How Much Is My Face Worth?

I've seen these posts go around for years and I've never gotten around to do it. I thought it'd be interesting to see how much makeup I use in general and how much it all costs in total together, it could also be scary. I would consider myself not too over the top with makeup, I don't buy only really expensive products or only cheap ones, I like to have a mix and I don't wear a lot of makeup everyday so I just picked a look I had done for the day and calculated all the products that I used. Hope you enjoy.

As you can see I don't buy that much 'high-end' brands mainly, I only splurge on them when I really want something I know I'll use a lot. Plus most of my money on makeup goes on more lipsticks I don't need. The total for all the makeup I've used above is €102.1. I'm actually surprised at how little I spent on this look, it's still a lot but for that much products I think that it's a decent price. Below is the look I created using the products mentioned above,

Current Favourites | January 2017

I've been meaning to do favourite posts for so long. I've had multiple photos shot to post, but they're long overdue and not relevant to the months they're from anymore. I thought I'd do a little recap on the things I've been meaning to post as they're still my favourites and they don't need to be confined in a certain month. So I'll most likely be doing current favourites in the future unless I can stick with keeping up monthly. 

Zoella Beauty - My first favourites come from the Zoella beauty range. The first product is the Zoella Candy Cream Softening Body Lotion. I love this body lotion, it doesn't have a very strong smell, but it quite sweet and very soothing. The part I love the most about this bod lotion is the little microbeads in the lotion. The beads aren't made of plastic like most face wash ones, but are made of a more moisturizing substance prefect for blending into dry skin. The second Zoella product is the Kissy Missy lip balm. I'm not a huge fan of lip balm as I find them messy and not great to use. This lip balm is a little tinted and moisturizing at the same time, it reminds me of the Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Me. I use a lot of lip products in the colder months and I've been reaching for lip balms a lot. 

Victoria's Secret Fragrance Mist - The last time I was in London I picked these two body mists up, as we don't have Victoria's Secret in Ireland (except there's one coming soon wooo!) so I can't get these products easily. They all smell so good, but I couldn't buy much due to carry on restrictions. I bought them in Pure Seduction and Aqua Kiss. Pure Seduction smells so sweet and dark while Aqua Kiss is fresh and light. I'm trying to make them last as long as they can as I love them so much and have to wait til the new store opens in Dublin to buy some more. 

Les Miserables - I went to see Les Miserables in the Queen's theater in October, and it's like my favourite musical of all time, it was like a dream come through. Also it's been so long I don't know whether to blog about my London trip and review of Les Mis, but if you're interested let me know. I bought this bracelet at the show and it's adorable and it's very special to me, and reminds me of such a good trip and time. I need to see this musical live again soon - I love it so much. 

La La Land Soundtrack - I recently posted a review of La La Land on my blog, and I'm still obsessed with the soundtrack even after a month of viewing it. The soundtrack has a wide variety of high energy dance sequences and sad sappy love songs, perfect for every mood. If I'm in a bad mood or need something to bop to Another Day of Sun is such a perfect dance, strut your stuff down the road song. City of Stars is my favourite, it's a duet that's just so beautiful. Lovely Night is also a perfect song to duet with a friend or boyfriend with, even you can convince them. The jazz and piano solos are soothing and everything about the soundtrack is perfect, there's definitely something for everyone.

What My Boyfriend Thinks Makeup Does

I've seen these type of posts floating around for a while and always found them so interesting and funny, so I thought I'd put my own boyfriend to the test and see how much he really knows about makeup. I think he's quite good at it as I talk about make up all the time yet he still gets quite confused. To test him I made him describe and explain a product of makeup and see what his answer is. I typed out his exact phrases and answers as he spoke them, so he didn't get a chance to change his mind, also I think it's funnier seeing him question himself. lets see how much he knows.

Primer - Do you put that on your face first? As a start in makeup, makes it stick better?

Tinted Moisturizer - Ohh, is it like fake tan except over time? But not like fake tan but like foundation that moisturizes your skin?

Blush - It makes you have rosy cheeks.

Highlight - You use it to like highlight your facial features like cheekbones and stuff. 

Concealer - To cover up blemishes and spots and stuff.

Foundation - I don't know how to describe it. Used to make your skin tone brighter, and more suited to you and nicer.

Face Powder - Such an ambiguous name. It's powder for your face. It makes your skin softer and smooth.

Contour Kit - I know contouring is for like making your facial features stand out more like nose, chin cheekbones as well. 

CC Cream - I'm gonna say that it gets rid of pores?

BB Cream - You put a small amount on your brush. It matches your foundation, moisturizes your skin and adds a tint of colour to your face. 

Eye Shadow - You put it on your eyelids. Do you put it under your eyelids too? Probably. You match it to your other make up to make your eyes pop.

Eye Liner - It's like I don't know how to describe, like a black marker slash pen along your water line. Does it make your eyes stand out?

Mascara - You put that on your eyelashes to make them kinda look organised and neat.

Lipstick - You put it on your lips to match the rest of your makeup and to moisturize lips.

I also made him explain what certain brushes are for, just to make things more interesting and awkward. I used the Real Techniques brushes below in order for him to make a guess at. If you wanna see what the brushes really should be used for check here and compare his answers or even your own.

1. It's big. I'm gonna say foundation.

2. Is it bad I wanna say foundation again?

3. I'm gonna say eye shadow, it looks like an eye shadow one.

4. It can be used for putting on eyeliner in desperate times and eye shadow.

5. Literally would probably be eyeliner. 

6. Foundation, it looks like foundation. But one only has BB Cream or something I don't know which one.

7. Is that the BB Cream one? If not it has to be foundation.

Overall I think he did a good job explaining them, I've definitely thought him well, a few of his answers definitely made me laugh though.

MAC | Whirl Lip Liner

While travelling by plane you spend the majority of your time in the airport where the only thing to do is shop, which isn't a bad thing. I spent some time in MAC a while back trying to pick something to buy in the duty free. In the end I picked a lip liner as I haven't really got any. I also realized I need to more make up type posts and I found this one in my drafts I've been meaning to publish and edit for so long, along with a whole list of other posts that are long overdue. I've been using this product a lot and thought I'd review it for you all.

I own very few products from MAC but I'm a huge fan of their lip products, they're such good quality and have really aesthetically pleasing packaging. I have a huge list of lipsticks I want to buy from there. I'd heard a lot of good reviews of the shade Whirl and thought I'd give it a whirl, get it? I have a lot of lipsticks and not many lip liners so I thought I'd invest in a lip liner for a change. I really love the shade of this lipstick/liner. It's a dark brown/nude neutral. It looks a lot darker on the lips than on the pencil. It's such a good shade when you want something a little more than a nude but nothing too dark.

I am wearing Whirl on my lips in the above picture. As a lip liner I think the colour is very versatile to line the lips for wearing almost every colour over. It adds definition and colour, although I also use the liner as an all over shade sometimes. I think the formulation is really drying on the lips even though it's really easy to apply. I wouldn't wear it too often without putting a lip balm over to hydrate the lips. I love the product itself though and it's definitely worth trying out the shade whether it's in lipstick or liner.

July Favourites 2016

I have felt very unmotivated to blog recently even though I have so many to write, it's not a good combination. The last month has been a little busy but it went by so fast, being more than half way through the year is so so scary. As I've been busy just generally socializing and also going to the cinema a lot more the past month my favourites are quite small but worth the read.

My first favourite is the Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil. I've been using powders on my eyebrows for ages as I always felt like pencils never matched my eyebrow colour and left them looking less than natural. I bought this pencil as I wanted to try something different and I''ve heard they're a lot easier to use. I've loved using this product and it does make my eyebrows look natural while still covering all the sections it needs to. The colour doesn't perfectly match my eyebrows but it's very close and looks fine when blended out with a brush. Pencils are definitely something I want to try more of.

My second favourite is an old favorite of mine, it's the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me. I used to love this in 2014 and I actually went through a few tubs already. I was looking for a really subtle hydrating lipstick to wear that doesn't look awful when it fades and I remembered I had this. This lip balm is super hydrating, leaves your lips with a slight red pink tone and looks so natural and lovely on the lips. It's so perfect for days that you don't want to wear lipstick but want something to wear on your lips with a bit of colour.  

I'd never used a Lush shower Jelly before and I got Woosh shower jelly recently and tried it. I have to say using the product is a little awkward but I really love the idea of it being reusable and much better for the environment.  It smells very citrus-y and it's full of grapefruit, lemons and limes, it's very fresh and it comes in a vibrant blue jelly. I'm not too sure if I'd repurchase because of how awkward I feel it is to use but I still do love the product itself.

My last favourite is this DKNY Women perfume. I'm not sure if it has an exact name but I've been loving this perfume. So many people have complimented me when I wear it. I think it smells really like apples but online it says it smells of orchid and water lily. It's a floral perfume so I'm not sure why it smells like a fruity one to me. I think it's one of the most perfect scents I've ever smelt. Maybe a bit dramatic but y'know.

My last favourites are movie favourites. They're both Disney which isn't a surprise. The first one is the Secret Life of Pets which is a little similar to other Disney films which involves pets and cities like Bolt and Oliver and Company. The plot was as expected, there's not much you can do with a bunch of animals in a city but the characters were lovable and very cute and the film was very well thought out. It had very humorous bits for all ages, there was also a little bit of dark humour which I was not expecting, my boyfriend loved it. I feel like it's another underrated Disney film which I wish was a little more celebrated or hyped.

My second Disney favourite is of course, the super anticipated, Finding Dory. I actually wasn't very excited for this film as it was over hyped, does that make sense? I thought it was very similar to the first, so much that it was very predictable and it didn't feel like it was anything new. Yet once again Disney has created some very unique and lovable characters. The plot connected and unraveled really well. I think it was really good and is worth a watch if you were a fan of the first one but it's probably something I won't watch again very soon.

June Favourites 2016

I didn't do a May favourites last month and it bothers me because I was doing so well with keeping up with this series. The end of May and start of June have been the most hectic two months and I've been constantly doing things or trying to do things. With how busy I've been I haven't got many favourites this month in comparison to usual but it means I love these things so much more so enjoy!

   

My first favourite this month is the I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts triple baked blush. I got this in Superdrug over in Birmingham and I literally thought it was the cutest thing ever, seriously how cute is the packaging?  It's a three dimensional blush with three different shades. They're all so pretty on, so pigmented and very sparkly. It looks really cute as a pop of colour on the cheeks and the shimmer helps add dimension to your face, and how can you resist buying something as cute as this?

 

My next favourite is a bloggers convinced me to buy this product product. It's the NYX soft matte lip cream in the shade Cannes. I've read about this shade on nearly every bloggers blog and every vloggers Youtube. This lip cream is my go to lipstick at the moment it's amazing. It's both a soft pink shade but it's also quite dark on the lips it's complicated but so beautiful. I wear this almost every day and I love how matte it is. It goes matte quickly after applying and doesn't dehydrate the lips. It has very long wear I wear it for over four hours without reapplying and most of the time it stays looking the same. Even if it does fade a little it's very subtle and you don't notice it which I love about lipsticks. There's nothing worse than not being able to reapply lipstick and your lips only have lipstick on the edges.

The next favourite is a food which is always a good choice to throw in, who doesn't love a bit of chocolate? The chocolate bar I've been loving and snacking on too much lately is the Wilton Candy Macaroon bar. This bar is so so nice. The chocolate is so rich and it contains little pieces of dried coconut which tastes fab. The bar is also only forty cents, what a bargain. No wonder I eat so many.

I've also been loving the W7 Bronze Queen eyeshadow Palette. I bought this last year in TXMaxx for cheap enough and picked it back up recently and realized I love it. I originally bought it because I fell in love with the sparkly gold shade and I still love it. They're all quite pigmented and subtle and generally just good value, definitely a good bargain palette to buy. The packaging feels really heavy and sturdy too, it looks pretty sleek if I say so myself.  

My last favourites are film and music related as I like to throw these in at the end too. I've been loving Twenty One Pilots new song Heathens, surprise surprise. It's going to be in the Suicide Squad movie and I'm so proud of them. The song seems like it fits the film perfectly while still keeping that Twenty One Pilots edge to it. I also went to see the new Alice in Wonderland recently and loved it. The story wasn't too great and it overall was very flawed but for me Alice in Wonderland is all about the aesthetics and characters which were amazing and the film was so colourful and beautiful and that made me enjoy it even if it lacked in other places. Plus I finally got the Urban Decay Alice palette and I'm currently swooning over it. I shall hopefully do a blog review soon so get excited.
