On a High Skinny Dip Highlighter Palette | Review

There's no Skinny Dip stores near me and I always forget how much stuff they actually have. I have a few of their liquid lipsticks and have tried and loved them and I really love the quality of their products. I was in dire need of a new highlighter palette and I saw this one that looked so pretty, look at that holographic cover, and it didn't disappoint in use. 

The palette includes three shades, one of which I would consider a blush and the other three highlighters. One is a very icy white shimmer and the others are gold tinted shades. They are one of the most pigmented highlighters I've tried and I love the different colours you can play with. Although the 'Ice Queen' shade suits me the most as I am so pale, I love the colour that gold dust brings to my face mixed with it or with a blush. I also like to mix 'Dollar Dollar' with my bronzers. When using them you don't need much product to see payoff it's the perfect way to finish your makeup look.

BECCA Illuminators Mini's | Review

I've been wanting to try out BECCA products for a long time, as I always see the products being reviewed on Youtube and other blogs, yet it's hard to get them cheap in Ireland. Yet when I was in Berlin I picked up mini products from Sephora to try out to see whether I liked them to invest in the full product. The products are the Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlights Opal and the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Opal. One is a liquid highlight and the other is a pressed powder. 

I don't normally use liquid type highlighters as I don't think I can blend them out as well as powered ones, so it was interesting for me to try it. The Shimmering Liquid Skin Perfector comes in a mini tube and it is applied on your face like a liquid lipstick. It's a pigmented product so you don't need to apply too much. I'm not the biggest fan of the finish on it, it leaves your face looking a little duey and remains looking a little wet even when dried in, I think it could look nice but I don't think I can pull it off. I find it hard to also find a happy medium when blending it in, I either blend too much or not enough, I think it just takes a lot more work than a powder version. It leaves a very nice silver shine though.

The Shimmering Skin Pressed Perfector in Opal is the reason I wanted to try the mini's, and I love it. The product itself comes in a cute little package, with a mini mirror on the inside which I love. The product is a shimmering gold and it's a little bit darker than the highlighters that I normally use. It leaves your skin really bronzed and warm, while shimmering. I think it would be perfect for summer and the warmer tones that come with it. The product doesn't come out of the packaging as loosely as some other highlighters I've tried and although I'd consider it pigmented but it needs a little bit more effort to build it up on the brush to apply.

Has anyone tried any of these highlighters/illuminators before? There's lots more from this brand I'd love to try!

Primark Chocolate Range | Review

I know Primark are getting really good at their makeup game, especially making dupes and similar products to popular ones out there, like Kim and Kylie Kardashians range. Now I don't ever really try their skin products often because I had a bad brake out because of one before so I try to test their other products. Recently they released a range based on Chocolate, which I think looks a lot like Too Faced Chocolate palette and other products. Primark do have a chocolate palette themselves which smells the same as the Too Faced one but it didn't have any interesting shades so I didn't buy it. Instead I thought I'd try the Chocolate Molten Gloss - which is very similar in packaging to Too Faced melted lipsticks, and the Chocolate highlighter because it looked very pretty. 

The Primark Chocolate molten Gloss was very disappointing for me, when I swatched it, it seemed to be very pigmented and not very glossy and glittery - but more matte and it does smell like chocolate. Yet when applied to the lips it washed my skin tone out and made my lips look very colourless. It was very glittery on, and not very glossy. I think it might be good on top of another lipstick, but by itself I would not wear it again. I think that the packaging is pretty and that it is very like the idea of Too Faced melted lipsticks, but it is no where near as nice. The lip liner that comes with it is nice but not very strong in colour, it isn't hard to apply but it looks like it could be twisted up but doesn't twist. It's not the worst but not the best that I've tried.

   

 The next thing from the range that I bought is the Chocolate highlighter, I kind of thought that it would be a chocolate toned colour, but it is the complete opposite, but still smells like chocolate. I think it's very pretty to look at on the inside, but the packaging isn't as nice as the other stuff in the range. The highlighter needs a few layers to have a good pay off effect but I do like it. It's very opaque yet pink, peachy and shimmery and a little iridescent, I think it will be nice in the summer and I will definitely be using it.

 Sorry the swatches aren't really in focus the highlighter wouldn't focus. The swatches are of the chocolate gloss, lip liner, and chocolate highlighter.

Soph X Revolution Highlighter Palette

If you're anything like me then you're a sucker for a shiny new highlighter or highlighter palette. I love most highlighters that I've tried but I am in love with this palette. This palette is a collaboration with Sophdoesnails, a Youtuber, I've linked to her channel if you've never watched her before, shes wonderful, and Revolution makeup. She has an eye shadow palette as well but I have so many eye shadow palettes I couldn't bring myself to get another. Now I've never had a highlight specific palette before, it's always been a contour style palette so I was very excited to have a play with all the different shades in the palette. It's also so affordable but wonderful, I think it was only ten Euro.

I'm not sure if the highlighter shades have names or not, as they don't on the packaging but there is five baked really shimmery shades and three pressed slightly less shimmery shades. There's a white shimmer shade, a purple toned one, a gold toned one, a rose gold toned one, and the other three are slightly more pink toned. My favourite is the first one in the palette the white shimmer one, I also like the purple toned one, the second on the second row. As I'm usually a pale person lighter highlighters suit my skin tone more, and I use the other shades as blush and other parts of my cheeks rather than my cheek bones.

The product is very pigmented and spreads easily over the cheeks. I like that there is so much variation in the shades, which means that there is something that will suit everyone and it also opens up some experimentation with shades, which I like to do. They're all just so pretty.

Sleek Makeup | Au Naturel Eyeshadow & Solstice Highlighting Palette

I've been eyeing up this brand for such a long time and wanted to test out some of their products but I had no idea which products I wanted to try out. At the same time I was looking for a good highlighter palette as I haven't really got one and I liked the sleek ones while trying out the testers. There was a deal on at the time so I also splurged and bought an eye shadow palette too, nothing wrong with a good ol' natural eye shadow palette. Spoiler alert, these are like my favourite make up buys ever.

   

I spent ages in the shop comparing which palette I wanted to get because there's a lot of choice, which is great. Most of them were really similar though which kind of confused me. I knew I wanted a pure highlighting palette though because I suck at proper contour and it makes me look silly. I decided on a neutral eye shadow palette to go along with this, it seemed fitting to bring out my natural glow.

Starting with my main purchase, I got the Sleek highlighting palette in Solstice, such a pretty name too. When I bought this I didn't know it came in a gold packaging so when I took it out for the first time it's safe to say that I fangirled over how pretty it was. Seriously though, the packaging and product look so beautiful, you can tell I'm obsessed. The shade that made me fall in love with this palette was the pale pink toned shade Hemisphere, which is for your cheekbones. The first shade, Ecliptic is the only creamy shade and is for your browbone and I also use it on the inner corners of my eyes. The third shade Subsolar and last shade Equinox, are for the bridge of your nose and cupids bow. 

   I love every shade in this palette and it covers every area in your face with each different shade which I love, I also love how they are named after the solar system. It makes your face glow and sparkle and who doesn't want that? It helps me feel like a princess, yes this post is getting weird now.

   

My second purchase was the i-Devine Au Naturel palette. These are mineral based eye shadows and I find them super super easy to blend and apply. They're very pigmented but subtle at the same time, if that can be said. I find that I normally only apply one eye shadow from this palette onto my eye and it gives me a super nice look. Half of the palette is very subtle colours and the other half are darker which is a nice mix, especially for everyday looks.

The top row of colours as you can tell my the pictures are very opaque and very subtle, also very hard to get a photo of. They're all prefect for bases or a natural make up look. They're mostly matte colours which I love right now. Taupe is the only shimmer colour in the top row and is probably my most used one from there along with Cappuccino, if I want a more natural look.

The bottom row of the palette is my favourite. They're half shimmer half matte, it's a good mix. I love how they blend on my eyes, especially the shade Regal, which I sometimes use on its own all over my eyelid. My favourite shades in the bottom row are Conker, a red-y brown shimmer, always a must have and another brown shimmer Mineral Earth. They're both just really pretty.

The only con to this palette is how un-pigmented the top row of it is, it doesn't make much of a difference on your eyelids but I still love the palette otherwise. The Au Naturel Eye shadow palette and Solstice highlighter palette go so well together and I'd highly recommend them!
