Primark Matte Lip Kit | Review

Matte liquid lipsticks and matte lip kits have been a trend for the past year or so, especially with Kylie Cosmetics lip kits being so huge, even though I've sadly not tried Kylie products before. The lip kit matte collection from Primark (Penneys in Ireland) looks like a Kylie dupe, which was four euro, a price which I could not say no to, so I thought I'd test it out and see what it's like.

The lip kit comes with one lip liner and one matte liquid lipstick, of which I own the shade Cookie Dough. They have two matte shades and two metallic ones in the store I was at. First impressions I think that they look quite good, and for the price I wasn't expecting them to be great. On first application I found that the liquid lipstick packaging and applicator felt thin and cheap. The lip liner applied smoothly and was a lighter colour than the liquid lipstick, but by itself it is much better, I don't think it matches the liquid lipstick too much. The liquid lipstick felt cake-y applying it yet I was impressed with how long it stayed on my lips even after eating. It kind of cracks and creases in places so it doesn't look the best after being reapplied so I recommend only wearing it for short periods.

The colour is quite dark in the tube but not as dark when applied, it's more brown and dark nude than a pink but still a nude shade. The formulation is flaky and I think wearing it for prolonged periods would dry out your lips. I can't imagine myself wearing it too much, I might use the lip liner more than the liquid lipstick.

(The swatches are the matte liquid lipstick and the lip liner)

Overall, I think for the price, it is good value, but I would much rather invest in something that is of better quality. It's not the worst but and in terms of dupes I think it's a pretty good lip kit dupe, if the quality was a little better I would highly rate it.

Has anyone else tried this before?

Wanderings and Outfits

As I have recently posted about my London visit, here, I thought I'd show some looks and outfits that I wore while I was there as I have not posted any outfit posts in a while and thought it'd be interesting to show some outfits with a tourist-y and iconic setting.

Set at the beautiful Tower Bridge, I am wearing an outfit that I love. The weather over there was twenty seven degrees for the most part, which for me is hot, especially having not packed any weather appropriate clothing. My patterned halter neck crop top is from Wish, and was super cheap may I add. My jeans and pink denim jacket are from Bershka. I honestly love this jacket so much, it's so cute and also really light and pastel coloured for summer. I also stuck some fruit shaped pins on it, as you can see the lemon one, and they're from Primark.

As I had not packed any summer appropriate clothing, expecting the weather to be awful, I bought this shirt from Urban Outfitters over there. It has cut out sleeves and is super flowy, I love the colour, once again there's a pastel theme and the flowers on it are also cute. The jeggings are once again from Bershka, I can't get enough of their jeans and leg wear, is that a term? The view of the London Eye is so nice, I feel so tourist-y just taking photos at that spot but it's a great backdrop.

What do you think of my pastel themed outfits? Would you wear coloured denim?

London | Photo Diary

London is one of my favourite cities in the world, I literally cannot get enough of it. It's somewhere I can envision myself being a lot in the future and hopefully I can make that a reality. I made a video on my last trip which you can watch here, if you'd like. Yet if you'd rather take a look at a photo diary rather than a video, this is the post for you.

Westminster on an extremely sunny day.

Big Ben and Oxford Street at night.

Polaroids of Trafalgar Square while at Trafalgar Square, inception.

Beautiful Trafalgar Square soaking up some rays.

Ice Cream candy cloud - which is absolutely the best thing I've ever tasted is from the Milk Train Cafe (just look at their fab insta).
Tower of London and Tower Bridge, along the Thames, which both have amazing architecture and design.

It's one of those cities that just make me happy and always makes me want to come back for more. Covent Garden and all the plays and musicals in the West End are so inciting and I would see a new musical every week if I could. So jealous of anyone who lives near/in this wonderful place.

Anyone else love London city and exploring it?

Lush Angels on Bare Skin | Review

As anyone who knows me may know I have a slight obsession with Lush, especially their skincare products. I am constantly using their toners, cleansers and face masks and I'm always running out. Every time I run out of one I go and try a different product, although there is a few I buy constantly. After running low on my trusty Let the Good Times Roll, I decided to try Angels on Bare Skin instead.

Angels on Bare Skin is a facial cleanser containing lavender, rose oils and almonds. It's completely vegan, which I love. It has pieces of lavender flowers in it, and lavender is my least favourite flower, not sure why I just find the scent really strong, but I do like the smell of this. It's soothing and I know lavenders meant to have soothing and calming qualities so I assume it has a great effect on your skin. I also know lavender is meant to be good before you go to sleep so using this before bed could be a really good skin care item to add to your routine.

For anyone that doesn't know how to use facial cleansers, you take a small part of the product into your hands and moisten it with water until it's a paste then scrub your face with it. I find with this product a little definitely goes a long way, I've had it for a few weeks and it still looks like I've not used much. I also think my face feels much cleaner and softer after using it. I usually use it when I was my face in the morning and the evening. It's not as sweet smelling as other Lush cleansers and it's much more floral so if that's the kind of scent you like I'd recommend this cleanser over others.

Has anyone tried this product before or have a favourite Lush cleanser?

Current Favourites | June 2017

I love reading favourite posts yet I am the worst at writing them. I wanted to do monthly favourites but I never stick to it so I just do favourites when I can. I have a few things at the moment that I'd like to share so I thought now is a god time to write about them.

I'm going to start with perfume as my first favourite as I am the worst at describing and writing about it. The perfume is Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue. I am awful at describing scents but it's quite floral, musty and sandy. It stays on for a long time and it smells really fresh. I suggest reading online or smelling it yourself to get a better grasp of it then I can give.

My next favourite is a product that I use every summer, the Garnier Summer Body Moisturizing Lotion for a gradual sun-kissed tan. I'm the type of person who is awful at applying fake tan and can't keep up with it, I only use it for special occasions. But with the Garnier gradual tan you apply it gradually, obviously, but even if you forget to apply constantly you don't get patchy. It leaves a subtle sun-kissed glow, as it states, and it's perfect for getting rid of paleness but looking ever so natural. It isn't dark at all and makes your skin look so healthy and toned. It's perfect for people like me who are ridiculously pale, and also awful at applying instant fake tan.

My last beauty favourite is the NYX Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim 04. I am obsessed with the Lip Lingerie collection, I literally want every single one, and I'm slowly adding to the collection. They're so versatile and I wear them casually almost everyday. They're the smoothest and most moisturizing matte lipsticks I've ever tried. This shade is quite pink with brown undertones.

In relation to my non beauty related favourites I've been loving the soundtrack to the musical Dear Evan Hansen, which is currently on Broadway. It's so upbeat and joyous I don't see how anyone could not enjoy it. My favourite songs are Waving Through a Window and Sincerely, Me. Check it out if you're into musicals and haven't heard this one yet, it's very modern with pop influences.
My current favourites to watch is Grimm, which is on Netflix, loosely based off the fairy tales of Grimm and mixed into a crime/detective series. It's sort of like criminal minds mixed with Supernatural, both shows in which I adore. I've only started season two but it's really interesting and makes me want to read the Grimm fairy tales.

What's everyone else been loving this month and recently?
